About Memorial and Tribute Gifts
A memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to celebrate someone whose faith, generosity, or example has touched your life.
A gift may be made in memory of a loved one who has passed away or in honor of someone celebrating a birthday, anniversary, sacrament, retirement, or other special occasion. Your gift can support a parish, Catholic school, ministry, endowed fund, or charitable cause that reflects the values and interests of the person being honored.
Through the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana, a single act of gratitude can become a lasting source of hope and support for others.

Ways to Honor Someone Special
Make a Gift to an Existing Fund
You may make a memorial or tribute gift to one of the many funds held by the Catholic Foundation. Gifts of any size may be added to an existing fund.
Establish a Named Fund
A new fund may be created in memory or honor of an individual, family, priest, teacher, friend, or other special person.
Create an Enduring Memorial
An endowed fund can provide annual support for the charitable purpose you choose, allowing the person’s memory and values to continue making a difference for generations.
Request Gifts in Lieu of Flowers
Families may invite friends and loved ones to make gifts to the Catholic Foundation in lieu of flowers. Our team can help provide appropriate wording for an obituary, funeral program, or memorial announcement.
Include a Tribute in Your Estate Plan
A gift in your will, trust, or beneficiary designation can create a future memorial that honors someone special while supporting the Church and ministries you both value.

You may support an existing fund or work with the Catholic Foundation to create a new fund for a parish, Catholic school, ministry, or charitable cause. - Determine the Type of Tribute
Your tribute may be a one-time gift, an invitation for others to contribute, a named fund, an endowed fund, or a gift included in your estate plan. - Contact the Catholic Foundation
Our team will help you communicate your intentions, provide gift instructions, and develop appropriate language for family members, friends, or an obituary. - Continue Their Legacy
Your gift will support the charitable purpose you select while creating a meaningful remembrance of the person being honored.
The Foundation’s giving page allows donors to support existing funds, and its existing-funds page includes numerous memorial, family, parish, school, and ministry funds.

Gifts in a Will or Trust
Donations in your will or trust are (by far) the most popular type of planned gift. Learn more, or get help starting your will (for free!).
Beneficiary Designations
Gifting assets not covered by your will — like 401(k) or IRA accounts — may help your heirs avoid unwanted taxes, even if you’re below the estate tax threshold.
Endowed Gifts
Create an endowed fund through the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana to provide lasting support for a parish, Catholic school, ministry, or charitable cause that is meaningful to you.
